CAREER & SEASON TOTALS

In six seasons in the Puerto Rican Winter League, he compiled a 47-33 record (.588) with a 3.23 ERA and 555 strikeouts, the most by any import pitcher in league history. He led the league in strikeouts twice: 179 in 1946-47 and 131 in 1949-50.

MILESTONES

He debuted with the Mayagüez Indios in 1941-42 at age 21 and played his final season in Puerto Rico in 1962-63, pitching for both Caguas and Ponce at age 42. He is one of only two import pitchers to record 100 or more strikeouts in two seasons and, on three occasions, struck out 10 or more batters in a single game.

On December 2, 1962, while pitching for Caguas, he defeated Santurce twice in relief. In the first game, he pitched five scoreless innings, allowed just one hit, and earned the victory in a 3-2, 13-inning game. In the second, he entered in relief in the eighth inning and pitched three innings, allowing one run on three hits, to earn his second victory of the day, 10-9.

Note: The three wins in 1962-63 was with Caguas.
