In 1938-39 he led the league in home runs (tied with Jimmy Starks); in 1939-40, he came first in triples (tied with Perucho Cepeda). On January 2, 1939, he became the first to hit a home run with the bases loaded against Guayama. In 1939-40, he also managed Humacao and had a record of 17-11.
