Leader in home runs (tied with Jim Rivera). Came to Puerto Rico as second baseman but during the season, manager Mickey Owen moved him to right field. His first daughter was born in Caguas. Played in the Negro Leagues with the Indianapolis Clowns in 1952. Named to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1982.
