Led the league in home runs in 1939-40 (6) and slugging (.667)…first in average (.480), home runs (13) and slugging (.959) in 1941-42; batting and slugging figures are record for calendar of 44 games…first to hit 10+ home runs in a season (1941-42)…first to hit two home runs in a All Star Game against Barney Brown and Leon Day (1942)…one of three to led the league in slugging and home runs twice (1939-40 y 1941-42); the others are Willard Brown (1947-48 and 1949-50) y Orlando Cepeda (1957-58 and 1961-62)…first manager of Santurce in 1939-40…named to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1972 and Puerto Rico Professional Baseball Hall of Fame in 1996…in 2014 he was selected as one of the best 75 players of the Puerto Rico Professional League…recipient of the prestigious Francisco “Pancho” Coimbre Award in 2021.
