Very good defensive player, he is the first Puerto Rican catcher in the Big Leagues with the Baltimore Elite Giants (National Negro League) in 1946. Got his nickname, King Kong, when the owner of Mayagüez, Alfonso Valdés, went to his house and saw him for the first time…named to the Puerto Rico Professional Baseball Hall of Fame in 1993.
